has to be a boy thing

I have a crazy son but he also has a crazy friend (christian) and when these two are together its trouble. So Coop and Chris were playing in the playroom and i could hear some crazy loud sounds coming from the playroom so i dropped what i was doing to check on them. They were just kicking each other. They were kicking each other so hard that they would fall down, cry then get back up to kick again. This is how our conversation.

me "what are you guys doing?"
Coop "we are playing kicking weenies!"
me "what!"
Coop "playing the game kicking weenies."
Chris "yes, i play it all the time with my cousins."
Coop "its fun!"
me "lets not play that game anymore. okay?" (i'm trying not to laugh)
Coop looking at Chris both are shaking their tiny heads "she's no fun!"

Oh the joys of raising a boy!

We had a Merry Christmas

Its a hard thing to say good-bye to Christmas but we made some good memories this year. We spent this Christmas with Josh's family and we had a great time. Coop was spoiled being the only grandchild so all eyes were on him. Of course he ate it up. Coop made Christmas so much fun for josh and I and i hope we did the same for him. We do treasure every moment we have with him and i just love him so much. I hope everyone had a wonderful Merry Christmas!

tis the season

This is not only the real Santa but he's extra special to Cooper. Cooper doesn't know it but he's sitting on his Grandpa Caldwell's lap.

Its time to send our greetings to friends and family. To wish you the blessings of the Christmas season not just today but throughout the year. We pause and think of this special time and are thinking of you who are dear to us and who hold a special place in our hearts. May the love of God warm your hearts and may you cherish the memories and remember that a special gift was given to us, for unto us a Child is born. He is our Savior and King. May the magic and wonder of the this season bring joy, peace and happiness to you. May Christmas fill your heart and home with love. Merry Christmas to all!

with lots of love,
The DeWitt Family

smile

I've been stressing out with finals, house hold chores, post office cleaning job, babysitting, being a mother and on top of all that finding out that we are still not pregnant. Its been a hard day. Not only do i want to just get in my bed and wish that today was over but i didn't do that and ended up hurting my back. So i called the doctor and they had someone that canceled on them and so i got right in (maybe my luck is turning around). I dragged Coop along with me and i told him to very good for me that the doctor is going to fix my back so i can play with him. Of course Coop was so curious what the doctor was going to do. The doctor was popping my back and Coop had a sad look on his face. Right then the doctor had a important phone call he needed to take and coop came right to my side and kissed me on the lips and said, "is he hurting you?" I said, "no but your kiss made me so much better." Oh I just love him. Coop you are the reason why i smile!

Little Taya and Ellie dancing in their tutu's.

Hay ride and singing. Coop loved it!

Opening christmas presents from grandma and grandpa despain. the kids went crazy.

All because two people fell in love.

Our drive coming home. It was beautiful but so scary. The roads were so icy but we made it safely home.

not only did coop love the chocolate calendar but so did I. I have finals to study for and coop has played his little heart out with it. its funny on how a simple gift could give a kid so much joy and imagination but i'm grateful that it did. it gave me some much needed time to write my final paper for my writing class. Now i'm looking forward to 3 history finals, good thing i have till next friday to take them. wish me luck.

true meaning of christmas

Love this story and loved reading this with Cooper. It has helped me with trying to teach him about christmas and I wanted to share it. Enjoy!

Just a week before Christmas I had a visitor. This is how it happened. I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed, when I heard a noise front of the house. I opened the door to the front room and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out next to the fireplace.

"What are you doing?" I started ask. The words chocked up in my throat and I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual joy manner was gone. Gone was the eager, boisterous soul we all know. He then answered me with a simple statement...

"Teach the children!" I was puzzled. What did he mean? He anticipated my question and with a quick movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree. As I stood bewildered, Santa said, "teach the children!"

"Teach them the old meaning of Christmas, the meaning that now-a-day Christmas has forgotten." Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it before the mantle. "Teach the children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, decipting the everlasting hope of mankind, all the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven.

He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR. "Teach the children that the star was the heavenly sign of promise long ago God promise a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of this promise.

He then reached into the bag and pulled out a CANDLE. "Teach the children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness.

Once again he reached into his bag and removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree. "Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real nature of love. Real love never ceases love is on continuous round of affection."

He then pulled from his bag a Ornament of himself. "Teach the children that I, Santa Claus, symbolize the generosity and good will we feel during the month of December.

He then brought out the HOLLY LEAF. "Teach the children that the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The red holly berries represents the blood shed by Him.

Next he pulled out from his bag a GIFT and said, "Teach the children that God so loved the world that he gave his begotten son." Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a CANDY CANE and hung it on the tree. "teach the children that the candy cane represents the shepherds crook. The crook on the staff helps to bring back the strayed sheep to the flock. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brothers keeper."

He then reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL. "Teach the children that it was angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Savior's birth. The angels sang Glory to God in the Highest, on earth peace and good will towards men."

Suddenly I heard a soft twinkling sound, and from his bag pulled out a BELL. "Teach the children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it should ring mankind to the the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return.

Santa looked back and was pleased. He looked back at me and I saw that the twinkle was back in his eye. He said, "Remember and do not put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One that is, and i bow down to worship Him, our Lord, our God." Merry Christmas!

better then mcdonald's

I just about peed my pants of laughter and this is why.

We are all sitting at the table eating dinner. Coop was looking at his plate with a disgusting look and said, "do i like this?" I of course said, "yes, you will love it."
For you that don't know Coop is horrible when it comes to food. If it doesn't look right and doesn't feel right in his mouth he won't eat it. We have to tell him he's going to die if he won't eat. I know that's a little scary to tell your kid but it will sometimes work.

Coop took a deep breath (its like i'm killing him to make him eat) and he took a bit. He looked up at me and said, "mom i love this! its better then McDonald's! you should write this recipe down because it delicious!" Seriously that's what he said. Do you want to know what i made?

So now can you tell why i almost peed my pants with laughter? I better go write this one down in my cook book. I think i should call it Better Then McDonald's, what do you think?

excitment

Christmas is coming and you can feel the excitement in the air. Cooper can't wait and is going crazy. Today we were hanging out on our bed relaxing and Coop asked, "is Santa watching me?" Josh and I both said, "yes, that's why you have to be good." Coops response, "so is Santa kind of like Jesus because Jesus is always watching me." So we told him the true meaning of Christmas and then Coop said, "but can i still like Santa?" Oh we love him! He makes us smile every second of the day. Christmas is going to so much fun because of our Coop dog!
